A Ghost Recon Splinter Cell crossover
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands was supposed to be one of Ubisoft’s big budget IP’s that took open world coop shooters to a whole new level. But lack of servers as always and a rather shallow loot and upgraded system got in the way.
However, Ubisoft has been trying to keep the game alive by giving players a steady flow of content including an attempt at PvP which despite the initial hype didn’t quite catch on.
The latest content ropes in another popular Ubisoft Franchise, Splinter Cell. Ghost Recon Wildlands will introduce a special Splinter Cell themed mission featuring franchise legend- Sam Fisher. This Special Operation 1 is the first major planned update for Ghost Recon after Year 1.
Starting April 10, a variety of Splinter Cell content will be available across Ghost Recon Wildlands including the base game as well as the PvP War Mode. It includes new customisations, a special PvE mission to play with friends and new Ghost War PvP class. The mission is an infiltration mission alongside Sam Fisher and can be played either solo or coop and is being called one of the toughest missions in the game yet.
Upon completing the mission, players will be rewarded with exclusive items, such as Sam’s iconic sonar goggles, with a new night-vision filter, and more. Even though the mission will remain available in-game, these rewards will only be available until the Special Challenge ends on May 16, 2018. While I personally don’t see this content patch really changing anything drastically for Ghost Recon Wildlands; this is a great fan service for fans of both franchises and will surely go a long way in keeping loyal fans happy. After all, who doesn’t like free content updates ?
