Prisma and others who deserve ‘app’lause

Prisma topped ‘App of the Year’ list for iPhone and the selection was made by App Store editors.

As we edge close to yet another year, it is naturally a time of stock taking in  a year that can surely be described as h‘app’ening. Tech behemoth Apple, for one, has sorted out the most popular in its store, unveiling a long list as Best of 2016.

Right from the day this update came on Apple newsroom, all are celebrating the name that topped the list of ‘App of the Year’ pick for iPhone – Prisma. The free photo-editing app won the hearts of app lovers worldwide given that it provided amazing makeover to normal looking photographs with art filters and picture effects since its launch in June 2016.  

The selection was made by App Store editors. The best apps for other Apple range of products iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch and Mac are Sketchbook Motion, Twitter, MySwimPro and Bear respectively.

Snapchat bagged the label of the most downloaded free iPhone app whereas Pokemon GO turned out to be the favourite for both iPhone and iPad charts. A set of apps make a line-up for the top paid ones on iPhone. FaceTune, Heads Up!, 7 Minute Workout Challenge, KIMOJI, Geometry Dash and Face Swap Live figuring in the top 10. The most downloaded iPad app is Minecraft: Pocket edition and YouTube tops the free iPad app.

“Overall, the Best of 2016 spotlights the fan-favourite entertainment that Apple customers couldn’t get enough of this year, while also celebrating the breadth and depth of creativity across the App Store, iTunes and iBooks,” Apple sums up the review 2016.
