Google Camera app now with selfie flash

The new feature produces extra light for better pictures in low-light condition.

Google has rolled out a new update for its native camera app and is available for download through the Play Store. The update brings a selfie flash to the app. Since majority of the smartphone do not feature a selfie flash, the Google Camera fulfils this by adding a manila-toned slab right as the selfie is captured, which produces extra light for better pictures in low-light condition.

Users will have to tap on the flash icon to enable the selfie flash. If the feature is active, users can see the lower third of the screen covered by a block of beige. Although, the feature doesn’t offer automatic white-balancing like the iPhone’s camera, but it’s still a good option to brighten up your selfie.

The new update also brings few more shortcut gestures, such as double tap to zoom, swipe to toggle between taking photos and shooting videos. Google has noted that the version is designed to work on recent Nexus and Pixel devices running Android 7.1.1 and above.
