Nadella accepts Windows Phone never stood a chance agianst iOS, Android

If you have been a Windows Phone, then you must have been disappointed by the constant agreement of Microsoft’s senior leaders that platform isn’t going to make a comeback. In another interaction of Satya Nadella with the media, the world is now assured that even its creators feel that it never stood a chance against the two dominating mobile platforms — Android and iOS.

“We absolutely do not have the share to have our smartphone hardware, that’s a real consumer choice. That’s the reality of it. The reality is that we cannot compete as a third ecosystem with no share position and attract developers. The thing we’re doing is to make sure that the software is available so that we can service the enterprise customers who really don’t care about a lot of the things a consumer will care about,” Nadella explained in the interview.

What this means that enterprises that use Windows Mobile devices will continue to get updates just to maintain the platform. Joe Belfiore has already made it clear the platform has gone into maintenance mode and will not get any major new update. This also comes as a bad news to manufacturers such HP and Alcatel, who have specific products utilising this platform.

As for Microsoft, they have been seemingly going the right way by providing their applications and services on both Android and iOS in order to tap into the potential clientele.
