Expansion time for Sony

Two of the biggest surprises of the show were the announcements of Shadow of the Colossus remake and Monster Hunter World.

In comparison to the previous two years, this was a much weaker E3 press conference by Sony. The games were there, but they had already been announced and it lacked the jaw dropping surprises that had become a real highlight of their show.

The conference started with two expansions in the form of a new story trailer for Uncharted: The Lost Legacy as well as the announcement of The Frozen Wilds for Horizon Zero Dawn.

Two of the biggest surprises of the show were the announcements of Shadow of the Colossus remake and Monster Hunter World. The latter will also be coming to Xbox One on launch and PC at a later date.

Their two biggest exclusives, God of War and Spider-Man both looked fantastic though. The trailer for God of War introduced us to the story, and how the game centres around the bond between Kratos and his son. The only thing missing was a gigantic set-pieces the series is known for. The game is currently scheduled to release in early 2018.

The gameplay demo for Spider-Man ended the conference with a helicopter chase sequence. The combat and web swinging looked spectacular, albeit not that different from the standards set by the Arkham Games. It will also be coming out sometime next year. The biggest issue with this year’s press conference was the complete lack of new games outside of VR titles. It was basically a repeat of last year’s conference without any real surprises with, The Last of Us Part II and Death Stranding were completely missing
