Windows 10 update secretly adds an additional app

A secret Photos Add-on app has been forcible installed on Windows 10 systems without proper clarification for the same.

Microsoft is readying Windows 10 for another major update scheduled to hit sometime this month. The Fall Creators Update will bring some new UI enhancements and a lot of under-the-hood improvements to offer a better user experience. However, in the run-up to the new update, the company’s monthly patch update has forcible installed an app on users’ computers without asking for their consent.

Windows 10 users have found an app by the name of ‘Photos Add-on’ that was installed without any notification. The app has also appeared on the Windows Store but without any proper description of what it does. Windows 10 users are baffled by the forced installation of this app on their computers. The app also claims to be supported on Windows Mobile, Xbox consoles and HoloLens.

However, going by its name, it could be possible that Microsoft will use this app in the future to add new features to Photos app present in Windows 10. This could bring new extensions in form of editing tools and new sharing options. Microsoft hasn’t released any statement on the functionality of this update yet.
