Huawei to soon launch two operating systems, first foldable smartphone
Chinese manufacturer Huawei has applied for a trademark on their own Operating System named Harmony, with the EU Intellectual Property Office amidst the trade blacklist slowly dying down.
The brand attempts to bag the name for a unified OS that will run on both mobile devices and computers. The trademark application has been under review since it was sent on July 12th.
However, Huawei insists that the Android OS and ecosystem will be their first choice for smartphones.
Hongmeng OS on its way
The company is also looking forward to spearhead their IoT devices using another of their operating systems, Hongmeng OS.
"We haven't decided yet if the Hongmeng OS can be developed as a smartphone operating system in the future," said Liang Hua, the company's chairman.
American tech giants Google can now resume selling android licenses to Huawei after US President Donald Trump issued a reprieve on Huawei in June.
Huawei Mate X spotted!
Ahead of its official release, The Huawei Mate X, the brand’s first foldable device that also features 5G was spotted in a Poster at a store in China. While no dates were revealed, a launch is speculated to be not very far away.
Sporting the latest Leica cameras and with support for advanced imaging features, the Huawei Mate X would be available between late July and early August, according to the Huawei products division president, who mentioned the same in a recent interview.
