Facebook imposes stricter restrictions to curb abuse

Facebook is adopting stricter 'one strike' policy to Live.

In the aftermath of the deadly terrorist attacks in New Zealand, Facebook has announced various restrictions to limit the spread of hate or cause harm through its live streaming service.

As explained on the official blog, starting today, Facebook is adopting stricter 'one strike' policy to Live. From now on, if someone violates Facebook's most serious policies will be restricted from using Facebook Live for set periods of time from 30 days for the first offence.

Facebook plans to extend these restrictions to other areas over the coming weeks, including preventing people from creating ads on the platform. The social networking service is also investing USD 7.5 million in new research to improve its analysis of image and video that could be in violation of its guidelines.
