As Skyrim made its way back to onto the radar in the form of Skyrim Special Edition, we’re reminded of how important the modding community is for PC gamers in terms of prolonging and improving the game.

The Special Edition boasts improved lighting, reflections, art and more to help bring the game into the modern era. While considered one of the greatest RPG’s in recent history, the visuals of the game were far from the best. Unfortunately, the Special Edition doesn’t do much to help that.

The game, available on both current generation consoles and PC, is great for console gamers, as it’s a good jump from the performance on previous generation consoles. It provides a great first time experience for new console gamers, as it comes with all the DLCs. The Special Edition also introduces limited mod support, a first for console gamers.

However, it still leaves a lot to be desired in terms of visuals, for PC gamers, going to show how much the modding community had helped make Skyrim the game we know and love.

From textures, to character models and brand new content, Skyrim has thrived thanks to its community. There were also complaints of audio bugs and more requiring hotfixes; as a result, it currently sits with mixed reviews on the Steam Store but is still a great buy for newcomers; especially when paired with the correct mods to make it an amazing experience.
