WhatsApp's latest beta gets Facebook tag, app to be renamed sooner than expected
Facebook, now the parent company of both WhatsApp and Instagram, had recently revealed that the apps would get new names. Now WhatsApp’s latest beta version gets the name ‘WhatsApp from Facebook’ name. We assume the move will soon come to the official public version too.
Facebook bought WhatsApp in February 2014 and has since been trying to mark its territory. Now the latest move disliked by many ensures Facebook can pretty much imprint its name upon the app.
The company plans to move towards a unified interface where users of WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook will be able to chat with each other, irrespective of which of the apps they use.
After WhatsApp, Instagram will reportedly be Facebook’s next target and you can expect it to be called ‘Instagram from Facebook’ pretty soon
