Truecaller introduces free voice calling feature
Spam detector app Truecaller has added yet another feature to its services. The app can now be used to place free VoIP-powered voice calls. For high-quality internet calls, Truecaller on Tuesday launched a new feature called "Truecaller Voice" for its 140 million daily active users globally.
The in-app voice over Internet protocol (VoIP)-based feature would let users make free, high quality, low latency and quick to connect audio calls through Wi-Fi or mobile data connectivity. This new feature has been introduced to Android, with iOS to follow soon.
A company representative said Truecaller began exploring the free voice calling feature a few months ago. It began testing the new functionality with alpha and beta test group users four weeks ago. It now plans to introduce group voice calling support soon.
Now with the VoIP-powered voice calls, Truecaller competes even more closely with the messaging app Whatsapp.
