A petition has surfaced online calling on popular website Change.Org demanding the Supreme Court to declare Section 144 on groups of TikTok creators. For the uninitiated Section 144 means the prohibition of a gathering of four or more people at one place. Most recently, it was seen yesterday applied around the Indian parliament during protests by JNU students.

Begun by a Delhi-based Sarthak Aggarwal, the petition has 25 supporters so far which reads-

“Petition to impose 144 on TikTok creators. They make chaos on the streets with loud music from their Bluetooth speakers. They move in a group of 5 or more and creates nuisance for the general public on the streets. They might have million followers on TikTok, might be earning diamonds from it, might be more famous than Ranu Mondal, but at what cost? I don't want TikTok to get banned as there are many authentic creators on this platform. Its high time we stand against the new age of so called content creators who doesn't even have basic human ethics.”

While tiktok has taken the nation by a storm, with more than 150 million downloads and rising, we weren’t aware that they had done this so noisily that a citizen asked for such an extreme step.
