Jio trumps others in terms of 4G internet speeds
In the fierce battle of the telecom giants for claiming the fastest network, Jio has emerged as the winner for the fastest network in India – according to a report by TRAI. The report claims that Jio, with its average speed of 16.48Mbps, topped the chart with Idea and Airtel lagging behind at 8.33Mbps and 7.66Mbps respectively.
Other major players like Vodafone registered itself on the list with an average download speed of 5.66Mbps, Reliance Communications with 2.64Mbps, Tata Docomo with 2.52Mbps, BSNL with 2.26Mbps and Aircel bottoming out with 2.01Mbps.
The monthly average speed data is calculated and compiled with TRAI’s MySpeed application that tracks the data on a real-time basis.
Thus, it seems that Reliance Jio is trying its best to keep up its promise of proving fast 4G internet to its consumers. After falling to an all-time low in TRAI’s internet speed rankings in December, 2016, Jio has held the top position since January, posting average speeds that are much higher than its competitors.
Meanwhile, another private firm Open Signal had conducted a research on network speeds. While it found Airtel leading the internet speeds with Jio lagging way behind, the firm stated that Jio’s 4G signal was available 91.6 percent of the research period, which is way better than its second best competitor scoring 60 percent 4G service availability.
