UC Browser is one the most popular browser in India. UC Web even claims that with a user base share of 45% (as per Statcounter), It is most used browser in terms of internet usage on mobile. In fact it’s been around from the old days of Nokia Symbian phones and has been downloaded over 500 million times from the Play Store.

Recently UC Browser was accused of sending data from Indian users to its servers in China. Reports even suggested that the app may have violated a few rules of Google Play by pushing out malicious ads. In turn it was pulled down from the Play Store. Some reports claimed that it was removed temporarily due to ‘misleading’ and ‘unhealthy’ user acquisition methods.

However, now it is back and we do hope that they have fixed the privacy issues plaguing the app.
