Pokemon Go fest backfires; Niantic CEO booed

The company is trying the best to make things right and has been apologetic about the whole fiasco.

Pokemon Go created ripples in the mobile gaming industry at the time of its launch and became one the most downloaded mobile game so far. Niantic celebrated the first anniversary of the game with the Pokemon Go Fest event in Chicago. Unfortunately, the idea of organising a fest backfired at the company.

The gaming servers apparently were not up to the mark, which basically ruined the gaming experience, while few users couldn’t take part. This made the attendees furious, resulting in an outrage. Niantic’s CEO was booed when took the stage to address the audience.

The company is trying the best to make things right and has been apologetic about the whole fiasco. Niantic also announced a refund for the tickets, add $100 in PokéCoins to users’ accounts, as well as give event attendees the Legendary Pokémon Lugia for free.

All the registered attendees will receive an email with instruction on how to receive a full refund for their tickets. The email will be sent to the email address associated with user’s Pokémon Go account.
