This AR app lets you preview furniture before buying

The app uses your phone's rear camera to scan a room and place iKea furniture in the room virtually.

Apple recently rolled out its new operating system, the iOS 11, in addition to a slew of new features. The update also brings the first wave of the augmented reality applications developed using Apple’s ARKit tech.

Ikea has made one of the best uses of the new ARKit by building this new app called IKEA Place, which uses Apple’s AR tech to help users make shopping choice from Ikea. The app uses your phone’s rear camera to scan a room and place iKea furniture in the room virtually.

The app also lets user quickly browse Ikea’s offerings and then check out how the items will look in the actual space of the room. Users can also reposition ad move the objects and view the scene from different angles.

Users can also position their phones so they can view underneath tables or behind the cabinets to get a full 360-view of a particular item.

Although the app doesn’t feature iKea’s entire catalog, and searh option can be smoother, it does eases the challenge of selecting the perfect furniture for your home.
