Google announces add-ons for Gmail

The new feature works on PCs and Android smartphones for personal and G Suite accounts.

Google added Reminders to Calendar and later enhanced it to make it easier for users to manage schedules at the desk. Now Google has partnered with several companies to bring useful add-ons to Gmail, which will initiate new ways to manage users’ workflow during the course of the day.

The new feature works on PCs and Android smartphones for personal and G Suite accounts. Users just have to visit Gmail in their browser, click the gear icon and then select ‘Get add-ons’. At present, Gmail will support only 10 add-ons.

The add-on will help enterprise users save a bit of time by not requiring them to switch apps constantly. Google has partnered with Asana, Trello, DialPad, Intuit, QuickBooks and Wrike. Among these,

Asana: Turn communication with clients, customers and teammates into tasks that can be tracked with your team in Asana, all from your inbox.

ProsperWorks: Easily access prospect or customer data, and log activities from calls, demos and meetings. You can also scan related opportunities, tasks and events.

Intuit Quickbooks Invoicing: Create and send professional invoices directly in Gmail. Let customers pay you online and track invoice status and payments no matter where you are.

Google is not the first one to introduce add-ons in its email solutions. Microsoft rolled out the ability for companies like Uber and others to bring functionality to Outlook.com and its various Outlook apps. Gmail add-ons are currently supported on the web and on Android, but Google hasn’t said anything about support for iOS devices.
