Upcoming WhatsApp features everyone should know about
WhatsApp is working on a host of new features and probably the best way to keep a track of them is by looking at it beta program which previews all of its upcoming features. Some of the upcoming features will be seen in final builds and the most talked about feature is Dark mode and it will be rolled out for iOS and Android users the world over. Here we take a look at some of the most exciting features that will be making its way to our devices in the near future.
Dark Mode
Dark Mode is the most exciting feature and it is getting a lot of traction on the interwebs as WhatsApp will finally boast a feature that’s already a mainstay on other apps like YouTube, Gmail and more. The Dark Mode here will enable users to invert the colours and allow the app to get a system-wide dark theme. Reports are suggesting that Dark Mode is near perfect on Android devices and this feature is already in the works for iOS devices. This feature is said to be available through multiple options and users will get the option to automatically change the colour scheme depending on the system theme. The iOS version of Dark Mode for WhatsApp will boast a darker colour scheme, while Android handsets will feature a lighter version.
Multiple Device Support
This upcoming Android feature is getting a lot of coverage online as WhatsApp is finally launching this highly-awaited option in the near future. Soon, WhatsApp users will be able to access their accounts on two devices simultaneously as they are presently working on a feature called “Registration Notifications.” This will enable you to get a notification about a secondary device login on an original device, a report by Hindustan Times states. The message will say, “The recipient’s device list changed. Tap Verify to confirm the new security code.” After the security code is verified, WhatsApp will be able to be used on multiple devices.
Stream Netflix
WhatsApp is working on adding to its picture-in-picture mode for third-party apps and you will now be able to view Netflix trailers from within the app itself. The app will display a large video icon with a play button and this is similar to what WhatsApp does with YouTube.
Fingerprint Unlock
After rolling out this feature to iOS devices, WhatsApp has now extended fingerprint unlock to Android handsets. WhatsApp also is capable of supporting Face ID unlocking feature for iPhones which is convenient for newer iPhone owners. Also, a noteworthy mention is that if the app is locked with a fingerprint, you will still be able to respond to video calls or audio calls easily.
