WhatsApp tests new 'frequently forwarded' label to curb fake news

Advancing its efforts at curbing the spread of fake news through forwarded messages, WhatsApp is looking at a new tool that will help users identify better if a particular message has been doing the rounds already.
As Engadget reports, the new feature is currently in beta for Android and labels messages you send as ‘frequently forwarded’ if they have been already shared five or more times.
One can also check the number of times a particular message has been forwarded from the Message Info section where you will be able to see the exact forwarding count.
The feature currently labels only those messages which are being sent and not the ones you receive. It is unclear when the feature will be rolled out to the masses.
