Samsung’s Galaxy S8 has been doing rounds of news portals citing various issue reports since launch. Firstly, the unique “Infinity Display” developed a mysterious red tint on some units of the smartphone, which was promised to be fixed by Samsung with a software update. Then the Wi-Fi had developed a snag, requiring Samsung to promise an update to fix the issue. Now, there’s a problem with the fast wireless charging.

Several users of both the Galaxy S8 and S8+ have reported issues with the compatibility of the phones with the older charging pads from Samsung. The phone, when placed on the wireless charging pad, doesn’t charge at all. A constant pop-up message shows that the phone is trying to connect but halts the charging process citing poor connection.

Now, this issue isn’t a universal problem, with many users contradicting the issue, saying not all units of the flagship phone have this issue.

It seems that certain region-specific firmware could be causing the issue. The old wireless pads adhere to the latest Qi wireless charging standards, so it shouldn’t be a hardware problem, like last year famous Galaxy Note 7 debacle.

If you are an owner of the new S8 or S8+, then you could have a temporary fix for this issue – use a non-Samsung Adaptive Fast Charger for the older pads.
