New devices with Alexa built-in launching in India

Number of Alexa devices grows across multiple categories, including portable headsets, smart speakers and set-top boxes.

These devices will be available beginning next month and will enable customers to ask questions, play music, control smart home devices, and more – hands-free.

Four Indian brands announced upcoming products that feature Alexa built-in. These hardware manufacturers, which include iBall, Sirena Technologies, boAt and MyBox, have integrated Alexa into their products with the Alexa Voice Service (AVS). Customers in India now have more choice around where they can access Alexa - bringing the convenience of voice control to even more connected devices across a variety of form factors and price ranges.

All four devices will be available beginning next month and will enable customers to ask questions, play music, control smart home devices, and more – hands-free.

The four upcoming Alexa built-in devices include:

Breathe-M from iBall, a wireless Bluetooth over-ear headset with built-in Mic, for Rs 2,225

Vood by Sirena Technologies, one of the world’s smallest portable smart speakers for Rs 2,699

boAt Stone 700A shock proof, waterproof, smart speaker for Rs 7,999

MyBox Alexa Kit for the set-top box (STB), paired with a voice remote, for Rs 1,999

Other, Alexa built-in devices, launched in October, include:

Decibel from iBall, a wireless Bluetooth over-ear headset with built-in Mic, for Rs 1,799

Pulse 3 and Plus 3 Max headphones from Motorola for Rs 1,599 and Rs 2,599 respectively

Bose Home Speaker 500, Bose Soundbar 500, and Soundbar 700 for Rs 39,000, Rs 59,000 and Rs 79,000 respectively

Breathe-M headphones from iBall

Breathe-M Bluetooth-enabled headphones from iBall feature Alexa built-in and make it convenient to access any information and enjoy music on-the-go. They feature LED circular ring lights on the ear cups - which displays colours to your tunes. The headphones come with a built-in rechargeable battery and mic to control calls and playback. Users can access Alexa on this by downloading the VerveLife App from the App Store or the Google Play Store. The headphones are priced at Rs 2,225.

Vood smart speaker

This Wi-fi 11ac and Bluetooth-enabled smart speaker from Sirena Technologies is made of wood and comes in two colours – red and brown. Vood is a portable digital assistant speaker with 5-6 hours of continuous audio streaming capability and 2 days of battery life. You can play integrated Wi-Fi music services like Amazon Prime Music and Saavn, or use Bluetooth to stream from your phone or tablet. Priced at Rs 2699, Vood will be available from mid-November.

boAt Stone 700A

The boAt Stone 700A is a portable, waterproof, shock-proof and dust-proof speaker with a battery life of 8 hours. The Idiot proof rugged speaker becomes smart with Alexa built-in capabilities. The speaker comes with dual drivers, compact design, 360-degree surround and a rechargeable battery. It comes in two colours ‘Military Green’ and ‘Rugged Black’ and priced at MRP of Rs 7,999 but will be launching at an introductory price of ₹4,000 on Amazon.

MyBox Alexa Kit

Customers will have push-to-talk access to Alexa from the mic button on their TV Set-top box (STB) remote. This will allow customers to use voice as an intuitive and preferred mode of interaction with their STB to check the weather, get latest news, recipes, listen to their favourite music tracks from Amazon Prime Music, Book Ola or Uber, etc. MyBox is in the process of upgrading their existing middleware, over the air, in 2.5 lakhs set-top-boxes with its in-house developed middleware MyConnect. This new middleware along with Alexa Kit is capable of enabling Alexa Voice services to existing homes. To make enable Alexa on your TV, just plug in MyBox Alexa Kit to your existing MyBox set-top-box. The customers of these MSO’s can get the Alexa Kit via their LCO or can buy from Amazon for Rs 1,999.
