Google adds a new Personal tab to its Search page

The new Personal tab takes your search term and applies it on your Gmail and photos on the drive.

Google search is “the” place to go for all your queries. Whether it's your smartphone or computer, Google makes it sure that you get as much information as you want through your search query. In order to enhance the information overdose, Google has added a new Personal tab to the “Search Results” page and tries to make it more productive.

The Personal tab lists the results from your Gmail and Google Photos for your search query. The new tab is placed under the “More” tab and is available on demand. The tab shows you all the emails and photos on your Google account that contains the word you typed as a search query. For example, I typed Xiaomi and the Personal tab pulled out only the receipts of all my purchases of Xiaomi products.

The feature works on both the web and the mobile versions of Google, which means you can use it to find your personal data without opening up loads of extra apps or browser tabs. To make sure nobody raises false concern about privacy issues, the company added a notice on this new feature stating that "only you can see these results.".

While the feature isn’t exactly very useful in regular usage, it is nice to know that you have a feature to summon if you don’t keep track of your Gmail account (which is very unlikely).
