This is something which we did not expect when we arrived to office today: Microsoft has just released a new feature for the Windows 10 mobile. This comes after everyone was thinking on the lines of the software giant getting ready to abandon mobile.
Included as a part of Windows 10 Mobile Insider build 15235, this new feature enables portrait mode orientation in Continuum, a feature which was widely needed by users who have been asking since forever.
Microsoft has stated in the official release notes that it has “heard your VERY PASSIONATE feedback,” and it would have been weird not to, though the most recent feedback coming from hardcore Windows phone fans isn’t something that the company should brag about.
All users have to do to enable this feature is Settings > System > Display on the device and change the display orientation to portrait oriented monitor or any other external screen.
“If your phone is connected to a monitor via cable, your phone will ask you to disconnect and reconnect the cable to the external display and press ok to change the orientation to portrait. If your phone is connected to a monitor via Wi-Fi, your phone will ask you to disconnect and reconnect to your wireless display,” it says.
The feature is now available for Fast ring insiders as for the time being, but will eventually be released to everyone else in the next OS release later this year.
Microsoft had almost killed off its mobile operating platforms and Windows phone 8.1 correspondingly and also restricting Windows 10 to just a certain number of devices. Word is, there is a major overhaul in the making, but not just yet.
