When it comes to music streaming, Google’s Play Music is at forefront of the category with a collection 40 million songs and counting. The service provides the latest numbers from the music industry along with a number of localised Internet radios. Google also has its paid premium video streaming service by the name of YouTube Red which lets users enjoy YouTube’s vast collection of video content without pesky advertisements and an option to download them. Google is now planning to merge these to create the ultimate media experience.

“Music is very important to Google and we’re evaluating how to bring together our music offerings to deliver the best possible product for our users, music partners, and artists. Nothing will change for users today and we’ll provide plenty of notice before any changes are made,” said Google to The Verge in a report.

The decision comes as a move to increase the number of subscribers to these services. Play Music is available in over 64 countries around the world and YouTube Red is available in only five countries. By merging these two, Google will be able to enhance the reach of its service and enrol more subscribers across the world. The world could also see a better service after merged collections of the two services. The company hasn’t rolled out any date for the launch of the new service, although they say that users will be notified of any decision taken regarding the same.
