Huawei to launch 'better' Face ID and Animojis
One of the most bizarre features of the new iPhone X has been the Animojis. Apple took some of the most popular emojis and made them mimic facial expression of the person using depth sensing front snapper of iPhone X.
Taking note of the same, Huawei recently unveiled two technologies which they think are so much better than those on the iPhone X. During a press event for the Honor V10 phablet in China, company executives provided the attendants with a glimpse into the feature line-up of a future Android phone model, revealing that it plans to roll out not only a facial recognition system similar to Face ID but also animated emoji based on this tech that would essentially be a clone of Apple’s Animoji.
In both cases, However, Huawei claims that its own features will be substantially better than Apple’s, both in terms of security and usability.
For instance, the system developed by Huawei, which doesn’t have a name yet would use upgraded modules capable of scanning no less than 300,000 points in 10 seconds to create a 3D image of the face, Apple’s iPhone X does the same thing but with only 30,000 points and this is why Huawei says its facial recognition tech will be much more accurate and secure.
Additionally, Huawei says it’ll make it just even faster fingerprint scanners, so it’ll unlock the device in just 400 milliseconds. It is to be noted that Huawei’s phones already have some of the fastest fingerprint scanners we have come across.
The Animoji clone that uses the said facial recognition system beats Apple’s version because it seemingly recognises stuck out tongue of the users. This is a feature that’s missing on the iPhone X for now, but which Huawei apparently sees as a major achievement that will help the company beat Apple in their own game.
Industry watchers probably remember that this isn’t the first time Huawei copies rival Apple, and more recently it promised to release a dual-camera system on the Mate 10 that would make the iPhone 7/8 Plus obsolete.
