Samsung foldable smartphone promo video leaks online
At the Samsung Unpacked event, the South Korean smartphone manufacturer is expected to introduce their next flagship, the Galaxy S10. However, hidden in plain sight, Samsung has teased that they would also be announcing their foldable smartphone, dubbed the Galaxy Fold which the brand is betting big on in 2019. While the handset was briefly previewed last year at their annual developer’s conference, it was encased in a protective casing so the world wouldn’t see the final design. However, it appears that Samsung has accidentally leaked an official promo video of the handset before immediately pulling it down.
Noted smartphone tipster Slash Leaks gained access to the video and has uploaded it on Twitter and now its available on YouTube as well.
From the video, we see Samsung showing off different product concepts that could be released and the most notable device from the promo video being the Galaxy Fold, the highly anticipated foldable smartphone. While we see the handset, there is no guarantee that this is, in fact, the final design as sometimes marketing videos usually add a lot of touch-ups to the products in them.
From the video, we can see that the Samsung foldable phone has a cover display much like the one previewed earlier by Samsung. A report by XDA states, “Samsung has confirmed the front screen of the release model will only be a small part of the display—about two-thirds of it. The way the woman in the advertisement actually uses and looks at the device shows the potential usefulness of the folding display.”
As of now, very little is known about the Samsung Galaxy Fold; but, there are a few specifications made available. As for the cover display, the screen is expected to feature a resolution of 1960 x 840 pixels, a display density of 420 dpi and the smallest screen width will be 320dp. The main display will sport a resolution of 2152 x 1536 pixels and a display density of 420 dpi. Little else is known about the foldable Samsung smartphone.
While Samsung may be the first to officially announce a foldable smartphone, OPPO, Huawei and Xiaomi are all working on their own versions which are expected to be shown off this year.
