Samsung Galaxy S9 to come with Snapdragon 845, 4GB RAM, Android Oreo: report

Samsung Galaxy S9 will operate on Android Oreo out-of-the-box, according to report.

Week after the launch of Galaxy Note 8, rumours around Samsung’s next flagship smartphone have started building up. According to newly surfaced reports, Galaxy S9 is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage option with expandable memory support via microSD card.

A variant of Galaxy S9 is also rumoured to run by an Exynoss chipset.

“Samsung will be securing the first batch of this new chip (Snapdragon 845), possibly delaying other 845 phones by a few months again,” XDA report says.

It is yet unclear whether Samsung will bring dual-camera set-up to Galaxy S9 as well. However, XDA sources did reveal that the “fingerprint-sensor will be in a centered rectangular cutout”.

“This (dual-camera) bit is a little confusing still, though if they intend to bring dual cameras for the S9 it’s possible that mounting placement will be similar to that of the Note 8, if you were to rotate the entire camera and sensor array 90 degrees clockwise. We haven’t heard rumors that the Galaxy S9 will ship with the dual camera array from the Note 8 so far, but it is highly likely that it will,” XDA says.

“Our source tells us that the fingerprint sensor will be in a centered rectangular cutout — while this seemingly rules out an in-display fingerprint scanner, keep in mind the device our source is acquainted is essentially an early prototype, and this might change further in development,” XDA report added.

Additionally, according to the report, Samsung Galaxy S9 will operate on Android Oreo out-of-the-box.
