Refurbished Samsung Galaxy Note 7 to go on sale starting July 7

Reports suggest that the smartphone will be dubbed as the Galaxy Note 7 FE, where FE' stands for Fandom Edition'.

Samsung has announced that it will start selling the refurbished Galaxy Note 7 smartphone from July 7. There are reports that the smartphone will be dubbed as the Galaxy Note 7 FE, where ‘FE’ stands for ‘Fandom Edition’.

Samsung said that it would only sell 400,000 units in the South Korean market. The company is yet to confirm its release in other markets. The device will be selling at a price of 699,000 KRW ($611) domestically, which is almost half the price of the original version ($1000).

Samsung chose to go with a smaller battery this time around, possibly down to 3200mAh from 3500mAh. The smaller battery size will avoid the cell compression issue, resulting in a safer mobile experience.

"The latest launch of the Galaxy Note FE... has a significant meaning as an environment-friendly project that minimised the waste of resources," Samsung said in a statement.

Samsung is also expected to unveil the next iteration of the Note series, the Galaxy Note 8. If the rumours are to be believed, the Galaxy Note 8 will boast a host of new features including a dual camera setup and a new processing unit with more RAM, all packed in a slim bezel-less design.
