Nokia 9 Pureview India release date just around the corner
At the Mobile World Congress 2019, HMD Global officially took the wraps off the Nokia 9 Pureview after it had been leaked in its entirety months ahead of its unveiling. Since then, the handset has been teased to make its way to India but no actual information has been divulged. Now, as per an exclusive report by MySmartPrice, the Nokia 9 Pureview has just been certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS); suggesting that the launch date is just around the corner.
Recently, in an interview with The Telegraph, HMD Global’s India country head Ajey Mehta confirmed that the Nokia 9 Pureview will be launching in India. However, he did not indicate when this launch will happen. With it passing the certification, which is a prerequisite for any handsets’ launch in India, we speculate that the unveiling should take place in the near future. The BIS is said to have certified A Nokia 9 Pureview handset with the TA-1087 model number which further emphasises on the point that its launch date is imminent.
The Nokia 9 Pureview will be HMD Global’s next flagship smartphone and will feature a 5.99-inch OLED display boasting a resolution of 1440 x 2880 giving it a QHD+ screen. There will also be an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication. Nokia doesn’t want this handset to be compared to the 2019 flagships since it sports a 2018 Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC and not a Snapdragon 855 chipset. The most likely explanation for the use of a Snapdragon 845 was because HMD Global was too far along the way in developing the Penta-camera handset to utilise a processor that was new at the time. The brand stuck to their guns and worked with an SD845 chipset and ensured it gives a user the best possible experience. With the Snapdragon 845, HMD Global has clocked it at 2.8GHz making it quite a beast in its own right.
The Penta-camera layout is the major highlight of the Nokia 9 Pureview. The cameras comprise of a total of five 12MP sensors that are fitted with Zeiss optics. HMD Global has shared that two of the five sensors are RGB sensors while the rest are monochromatic sensors. Also, we find a 3D ToF sensor on the handset. The front-facing camera is no slouch either with HMD Global adding a 20MP shooter up front with HDR support.
The battery is the only area where the handset is lacking in comparison to flagship devices as it features a lowly 3320mAh battery. This is quite less in comparison to its Android rivals. However, for good measure, the handset is capable of supporting 18W fast charge.
No prices have slipped yet, but considering the specifications, the Nokia 9 Pureview could be priced at Rs 45,000; however, this is just based on hearsay.
