Sony Xperia XZ4 leak leaves nothing to the imagination

The latest leak shows a screen protector that allegedly belongs to the upcoming Sony flagship.

Since late last year, leaks and rumours regarding Sony’s upcoming flagship have been hitting the internet and much of them focused around the handset’s supposed triple rear camera setup and a 6.5-inch display. A recent leak by serial tipster @IceUniverse has got hold of a screen protector of the Sony Xperia XZ4 and in the process, confirming its extra-tall 21:9 6.5-inch panel that doesn’t sport a notched screen.

As per the tweet, the leakster states, “Exclusive: I received the tempered film of the Sony Xperia XZ4. This phone is too long. After measuring, the length of the XZ4 screen is 15.2cm, which is similar to the length of the iPhone Xs Max.”

This latest leak by @IceUniverse comes hot on the heels of previous leaks — case leaks and specs leaks and in the process we have a fair assessment of what the handset will entail. As per a report by GSMArena, the author notes, “This second part of the Xperia XZ4 leak is a bit different. Our best guess as to what is going on here is that Ice universe has a to-scale model on the Xperia XZ4 up on a screen with the glass screen protector from the previous photos stuck on top with tape, just to illustrate the accuracy of the scale. The content playing on-screen is a scene from Thor Ragnarok, which we did manage to track down and best we can tell is not being cropped in any way. What that means is that, indeed, the Xperia XZ4 appears to be rocking an incredibly tall/wide 21:9 aspect ratio display - just perfect to play cinema content one to one.”

The Sony Xperia XZ4 is expected to feature a Snapdragon 855 chipset and paired with 6GB of RAM and either 64GB or 256GB of online storage. The fingerprint sensor is believed to be located on the side of the device and the primary camera will sport a 1/ 2.3-inch sensor with OIS. The handset is expected to come running Android 9 out of the box and the handset will be powered by a 3900mAh battery.

As of now, there is no word on when the handset will be launched but in all likelihood, it should be announced at MWC 2019 scheduled to take place in late February.
