Samsung has been making serious headway in the all-screen smartphone category and the latest report suggests it’s close to completion.

When Samsung announced the Galaxy S10 devices, these handsets were the next best thing to an all-screen smartphone. Though the handsets feature a cut-out punch-hole display, which the brand terms as an Infinity-O screen, it isn’t quite yet there. Several manufacturers including OPPO and Vivo are constantly experimenting with an all-screen display; however, they come with a pop-up camera which involves moving parts, which in all honesty isn’t quite conducive in the long run.

Samsung appears to have found the perfect solution for an all-screen display and if the latest reports are anything to go by, then the handset will come with a front-facing camera under the display and not in a cut-out or a pop-up camera. Reports stemming from South Korea claim that Samsung is hard at work on a new device that features a ‘perfect full screen.’ The brand will be working on a smartphone that will feature the front camera into the display and enable it to be hidden from sight until it is in use. This feature will be similar to the in-display fingerprint sensors used in Samsung’s Galaxy S10 devices.

To achieve a true all-screen device is no easy feat. Samsung innovated with the punch-hole display which houses the front-facing cameras in a cut-out in the screen and OnePlus will feature a pop-up camera in the OnePlus 7 Pro. These tricks aim to provide a higher screen-to-body ratio but do not provide an all-screen solution.

According to the various media reports, Samsung will not employ the notch, a cut-out or a pop-up camera with its upcoming smartphone. Instead, the brand is working to feature the camera under the display itself. AS of now, the tech isn’t available to be seen, so till Samsung introduces the smartphone which will be the first time we see such a solution in action.

Samsung, prior to launching its first handset with an in-display fingerprint sensor, the brand spent a couple of years perfecting the technology. As of now, it isn’t clear if the brand is facing the same problems with the under-display camera.

For this device, Samsung isn’t in a hurry to get the smartphone with an under-display camera in consumers’ hands. Instead, they are waiting to perfect the tech before introducing it.
