Android Oreo's first bug shows up, drains mobile data in WiFi connections
The world is excited about the latest build of Android, waiting for the Oreo update to hit their smartphone. Although there are few Android smartphones in the world that can taste the sweetest Android right now, a bug has crept up in existing devices running Android Oreo.
A report from Softpedia states that several Reddit users have been experiencing colossal mobile data bills while using their WiFi connections after updating their smartphone to Android Oreo. This is caused by a bug that simply keeps the mobile data ‘ON’ while you are connected to the Wi-Fi network. Therefore, users have unknowingly incurred heavy Internet usage on their mobile data instead of their WiFi connections.
Google has already been made aware of the problem and is, therefore, working on a patch, which will be eventually rolled out in the upcoming days. However, there’s a manual workaround for this bug till the time the patch rolls out. All the user has to do is turn off the “mobile data always active” option from the Settings of your phone.
