Samsung has registered 2.5 lakh pre-bookings of the Galaxy Note 8 even before the price is revealed.

Although the US variant comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, the Indian variant will get the Exynos 8895 chipset from the Galaxy S8, along with 6GB RAM as standard.

The yet-to-be-launched Samsung Galaxy Note 8 has garnered a lot of interest in the Indian market before its official revealing on September 12, the same day Apple when Apple is expected to launch its next iPhone. Samsung India has registered 2.5 lakh overall bookings of its supposedly most expensive smartphone in India.

Amazon — Samsung’s official third-party retailer for the Galaxy Note 8, has received nearly 1.5 lakh registrations. The e-commerce giant claims that 72,000 people booked the Galaxy Note 8 on the very first day of registrations. Samsung India’s own website has recorded one lakh registrations of the Galaxy Note 8, as reported by IANS.

That means even though the Galaxy Note 8 is essentially a grown-up Galaxy S8+ with an S Pen and dual camera, the Indian market is excited about the phablet with its new design and an array of software tweaks. The Galaxy Note 8 was unveiled last month and became the first Samsung phone with a dual camera sensor. The smartphone has a 6.3-inch 2K Super AMOLED Infinity Display. Although the US variant comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, the Indian variant will get the Exynos 8895 chipset from the Galaxy S8, along with 6GB RAM as standard.

The Galaxy Note 8 features a 12MP + 12MP dual camera setup, in which each lens has Optical Image Stabilisation as standard. The telephoto lens can achieve 2X optical zoom. There’s a 3300mAh battery that can be charged from a USB Type-C port. Apart from the S Pen, the device also features IP68 water resistance and Samsung’s own Bixby AI assistant. The Galaxy Note 8 runs on Samsung Experience built on top of Android Nougat 7.1. Expect Samsung to price the Galaxy Note 8 a bit higher than the Galaxy S8+.
