Xiaomi's MI MIX 2 to gain an iPhone X-esque notch?
Xiaomi’s Mi MIX 2 is a great smartphone, bringing in narrow-bezel displays to affordable flagship category. However, the company is known to be ‘inspired’ from Apple for most of its products and it seems that they are at it again for their flagship Mi MIX 2. A photo of a Mi MIX 2 with a notch on the top bezel is doing rounds of the Internet.
The iPhone X is all the craze in the world of technology. Therefore, it is evident that its rivals will either try to out-do Apple with something more revolutionary or simply get ‘inspired’. If we are to believe these leaked photos from Weibo, then Xiaomi could be working on a new updated model of the Mi MIX 2. Some are claiming this to be the Mi MIX 2S, claiming the notch on the top to house all the sensors, a conventional earpiece and the front camera (which should eliminate the Mi MIX 2’s biggest issue).
However, Xiaomi could be onto something with this ‘notched-Mi MIX 2’. Maybe the Chinese smartphone giant is incorporating an OLED display technology similar to the iPhone X, completely eliminating the bottom lip. It could also be possible that Xiaomi has some kind of answer to Apple’s FaceID; maybe we can see a MiID or an infrared facial recognition feature on this one.
It is still too early even to get hopes high as this could be a fan-made concept made to look like the real deal. But, if Xiaomi has intentions to announce a smartphone like this, then you can follow all the updates here.
