Leaks suggests Touch ID on iPhone 8's power button

With this one, the possibilities of a display-embedded fingerprint scanner on the iPhone 8 goes for a toss.

With each day passing by, rumours about the iPhone 8 have been getting stronger. The designs have been hinting towards a bezel-less display with an embedded fingerprint sensor under the display, a technology that has been already debuted by Vivo and Qualcomm. However, a leak by popular Slashleaks has suggested otherwise – no under display fingerprint scanner.

The leak suggests that Apple will not be introducing a fingerprint scanner embedded under the display of the next flagship iPhone. Instead, it is now said that they will go for a very different but simple idea – include the Touch ID in the power button of the iPhone 8. The power button is generally the first button that a user touches to wake the device. By embedding the Touch ID in it, unlocking the device will be faster and easier.

The leak also suggests that the next iPhone will be called the iPhone Plus and will also come with wireless charging out-of-the-box. The smartphone is also supposed to come in the same colour as the original iPhone to mark the 10th anniversary of the world’s most popular smartphone.

With leaks of the upcoming iPhone raining all around, it seems that the smartphone is getting finishing touches before its much-awaited unveil sometime later in the year. However, the world is still waiting for a hint about the alleged iPhone 8 from Apple.
