Apple had to face a lot of criticism around the ending of 2017 due to several claims which proved that the company was deliberately slowing down the older iPhones. In response, the company had to issue an apology and also introduce a discounted battery replacement program. But according to a report by MacRumors, it now seems like some iPhone users will have to wait a little more to get the batteries replaced.
The report states that Apple won’t have batteries in stock for the iPhone 6 Plus. As opposed to the promise of the batteries being available instantly. It could now take around two weeks for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s Plus; late March to early April for the iPhone 6 Plus; and batteries for the iPhone 6s, iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus, and iPhone SE will be available without extended delays. These estimates are for the US, and the availability may vary across the region (as well as for the Indian customers).
The company had sent out a letter in December which said that it will replace batteries of old iPhone at a discounted price starting late January. However, the program came into effect much before Apple’s announced date. At that time itself, Apple cautioned that supplies of replacement batteries might be limited at the start of this program.
The Cupertino giant is offering battery replacement to owners of iPhone 6 or later at a discounted price of $29 (Rs 1,800 approximately). The battery replacement from Apple generally costs $79 (Rs 5,000 approximately) and the makers say new battery will restore 70 percent of peak performance.
