For all the iPhone X and iPhone 8 users using wireless charging pads to fuel their devices with power, here is a good news for them. Apple is preparing to release iOS 11.2 update that will enable fast wireless charging for the latest iPhone 8, iPhone Plus and iPhone X.

As Apple promised faster wireless charging speed from the very beginning, it has now unlocked 7.5W wireless charging speed with the release of iOS 11.2. Currently, on iOS 11.1.1, the three devices charge at 5W using Qi wireless chargers.

MacRumors stated that with support for 7.5W charging speeds, the iPhone 8, 8 Plus, and iPhone X will be able to charge more quickly over a wireless connection, and a 7.5W wireless charger should be able to reduce charging times drastically compared to the standard wired 5W power adapter. Maybe this could be a part of Apple's strategy to push people from the world of wires to wireless charging pads.

Apple is already selling several 7.5W-capable wireless chargers and there are several other third-party ones out there that can be used with supported iPhones. But users have to install iOS 11.2 on their supported iPhone models in order to benefit from this upgrade. Wireless charging is available only on the iPhone 8, the iPhone 8 Plus, and the iPhone X, all of which come with a glass body allowing for this feature.
