HTC 10 is now receiving Android 8.0 Oreo update
HTC 10 has started receiving the new Android 8.0 Oreo update in batches as OTA (over-the-air) package. The company had promised the update to the latest Android version for its 2016 model in August 2017.
This update brings the software version 3.16.617.2. It includes Android along with default features such as Instant Apps, new Quick Settings menu, Notification dots, Picture in Picture (PiP) mode, and Smart Autofill, among various others. The update is expected to include the latest Android security patch.
The update can be expected to be made available in phases for all HTC 10 units. You can check its availability by going to Settings, then About and then Updates or the user can manually install the update by downloading the 1.8GB RUU package that is available on the official site. But the manual process will erase all the data on the users' device and therefore the users are recommended to back up the data locally before beginning with the RUU.
The company released the Oreo update for another device HTC U11 in last year to upgrade the user experience on its flagship.
