Xiaomi Redmi 4 with 4,100 mAh battery launched in India at Rs 6,999
In its bid to expand the budget smartphone portfolio, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 4 smartphone in India. The smartphone starts from a price sum of Rs 6,999 and will sit between the cheaper Redmi 4A and the popular Redmi Note 4.
The Redmi 4 is an upgrade to the last year’s Redmi 3S Prime and comes with a compelling specification list in the budget smartphone category. The smartphone is built around the octa-core Snapdragon 435 chipset, which uses eight A53 cores. There is 128GB expandable storage available via microSD card.
The smartphone has a 5-inch 1280x720-pixels IPS LCD display with 2.5D curved protection glass. There’s a fingerprint sensor at the back, which is always active, like the one on the higher Redmi Note 4.
There’s a 13MP phase detection auto-focus rear camera with a LED flash that can record 1080p videos at 30fps. The front camera on the Redmi 4 is a 5MP unit that is also capable of recording 1080p videos.
The Redmi 4 runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a dose of Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 8 on top. However, Xiaomi is letting Redmi 4 users experience the beta version of Android N on the phone out of the box. The smartphone’s major highlight is its massive 4,100 mAh non-removable battery for providing extended periods of usage time.
The Redmi 4 will be available in three versions. The 2GB+16GB version costs Rs 6,999, the 3GB+32GB will cost Rs 8,999 and the 4GB+64GB version will cost you Rs 10,999.
The Redmi 4 will be sold as the better-equipped version of the entry-level Redmi 4A that doesn’t have a fingerprint sensor and a plastic body. It will be available in matte black and champagne gold.
