No longer under Xiaomi, POCO becomes independent brand

The POCO F1 producing company, which started off in 2018 with good success shall be now spinning off as a standalone brand.

Electronics brand Xiaomi which has had on its belt to date the Redmi and Poco line of products has today announced that it shall be restructuring. The POCO F1 producing company, which started off in 2018 with good success shall be now spinning off as a standalone brand.

Addressing the announcement, Manu Jain, Xiaomi Vice President and Xiaomi India Managing Director, said, “What started as a sub-brand in POCO has grown into its own identity in a short span of time. POCO F1 is an extremely popular phone across user groups, and remains a top contender in its category even in 2020. We feel the time is right to let POCO operate on its own now, which is why we’re excited to announce that POCO will spin off as an independent brand. Join me in wishing the POCO team the best!”

Not only an ‘independent brand’ , it shall also have ‘its own team and go to market strategy’, a press statement from Xiaomi said.

Last year, the smartphone company had similarly let go of its Redmi brand in China as well while there is chatter on Redmi India also being in a similar situation soon, there is nothing certain yet.
