Xiaomi Mi A1 gets Android 8.1 Oreo update with July 2018 security patch
Mi A1 users, pay attention! Here's a good news. Xiaomi has started rolling out the new Android 8.1 Oreo update to the Mi A1 Android One smartphone with the July 2018 Android security patch.
A few weeks back, the company rolled out the Android 8.1 Oreo update for Mi A1, however, due to a serious bug, Xiaomi had to stop the roll-out. The initial rollout was stopped due to the emergence of a bug that wiped your complete SMS history. Now the issue seems to have been fixed and the new update is being rolled out in phases via over-the-air (OTA) method.
According to the changelog, the new update brings the latest July 2018 Google security patch, improves the stability of the device, and optimises its performance. After you install the new update, you will be on build OPM1.171019.026.V9.6.4.0.ODHMIFE. The software comes over-the-air as a 467MB download. Those who have already updated to the earlier version (with the SMS bug), will also be updated to the newer version but will receive a larger update sized at around 1.15GB. Users who haven't received the update already, don't freak out, it will probably take a few days.
Besides, Xiaomi has recently confirmed that the successor to the Mi A1 is coming to India. The Mi A2 is rumoured to be the global variant of the Mi 6X and is expected to be launched in Spain on July 24. To read the full story click here: Xiaomi Mi A2 India launch confirmed: Price and specifications.
