Xiaomi has officially unveiled its third gaming smartphone, the Black Shark 2 and with it, we get some stellar upgrades where it matters the most — display and performance.

The new Xiaomi Black Shark 2 comes with a 6.39-inch Super AMOLED screen that’s been manufactured by Samsung and as per the announcement, it features various optimizations and inputs that have reduced the latency to a mere 43.5ms. That’s not all; the screen is also pressure sensitive which helps in mapping left and right controls on the screen. This allows you to gain control of your games through the screen itself instead of using physical buttons. Apart from the above-mentioned additions, the screen also comes with improved colour accuracy and the Full HD+ display is HDR-enabled too. The brightness is rated at 430 nits and there is also motion interpolation that’s on par with the high frame rate witnessed on TVs.

The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC which is the norm for flagship handsets being launched this year. There is a Liquid Cool 3.0 vapour chamber that takes care of the thermals in order to attain the 14-degree lower chipset temperature. The chipset is paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage or 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.  The 4000mAh battery keeps the handset alive and it supports 27W fast charging. Biometric authentication is taken care of by an in-display fingerprint sensor.

As far as optics go, the Xiaomi Black Shark 2 comes with a dual rear camera setup with the primary sensor being rated at 48MP with an aperture value of F/1.75. The secondary camera is a 2X telephoto lens and it has a 12MP sensor. The front-facing camera is rated at 20MP.

The Xiaomi Black Shark 2 has gone on sale in China for about Rs 32,900. As of now, there’s no word yet on when the handset will make its way to India.
