Mate X: India will see its first folding phone from Huawei this year

The device will be world's first device to support both standalone and non-standalone bands of 5G.

Huawei India has announced that the company will be launching the world’s first 5G foldable phone, Huawei Mate X in India, this year. With an exemplary design that blends style with technology, Huawei Mate X is the company’s first foldable 2-in-1 smartphone and tablet. It is a multi-form factor that unlocks a new page of 5G interfacing era to reinvent productivity and entertainment.

With its innovative Falcon Wing Mechanical hinge, the HUAWEI Mate X unfolds gracefully like a falcon extending its wings, transforming the 6.6-inch full screen and powerful smartphone into a 5.4mm thin, ultra-productive eight-inch tablet that features almost double the viewing area of the device in smartphone mode. It features a high-capacity 4500mAh battery supporting the world’s fastest 55W HUAWEI SuperCharge, that tops the battery up quickly to minimise downtime for those who prefer a fast-paced lifestyle. In just 30 minutes, HUAWEI SuperCharge is able to charge the battery back to 85 per cent.

Huawei’s flagship smartphones have always come with powerful cameras, and the HUAWEI Mate X is no different. Inside the smartphone’s slim body is the latest Leica cameras, supporting the most advanced imaging features to date. The foldable design makes it possible for the camera system to play the role of both front and rear cameras. When folded, the HUAWEI Mate X shows a viewfinder on both sides, so even the subjects in the frame can contribute to the creative process.

As Huawei's first 5G smartphone, the Mate X is equipped with Huawei's most sophisticated technology and patents. The Mate X runs on the Balong 5000 chipset, which is the world’s first multi-mode 5G SoC with 7nm process, being able to support 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G with a single chip; Balong 5000 is the first to achieve the industry's benchmark in 5G peak download rate, offering 4.6Gbps in Sub-6GHz (low frequency band, 5G main frequency band); Balong 5000 is the world’s first chipset to support SA and NSA simultaneously, with the ability to adapt to different hardware requirements and formats for users and telecom operators, making the Huawei Mate X the true 5G smartphone.
