Petition to reduce price of Redmi K20 'pops up' on the web
All eyes were on the next Redmi device ever since Xiaomi put up that post calling out Oneplus and announcing the arrival of the ‘Flagship Killer 2.0’. People were not just excited to see some brand pull a Oneplus on Oneplus themselves, but they were curious as to how a brand that largely targets budget devices would go toe to toe with Oneplus, a brand which excels in making low cost, high wquality flagships for years now.
Naturally the first assumption and probably the most important one that people came to was that the new Xiaomi device that would take the fight to Oneplus would be a much cheaper alternative to the Oneplus 7.
However, people’s expectations were somewhat dissapointed when the K20 and K20 Pro launched on July 17. The prices, which people expected to at least start below Rs 20,000 for the base variant of the lower performing device, ranged from Rs 22,000 to Rs 31,000.
The base variant of the K20 was priced at Rs 22,000, although it offered only 64GB of storage along with the 6GB of RAM. Now, a petition has surfaced on change.org where many people are signing up to ask Xiaomi to reduce the price of the base Redmi K20 to at least Rs 20,000.
