Zanco announces possibly the world's smallest phone
In 2016, when Apple launched the iPhone SE, the world went berserk after the Cupertino giant’s decision to stick to 4-inch displays. The smartphone was particularly preferred by those with small palms or those looking for single-handed smartphone user experience. Since then, many smaller startups have tried their luck at making minimalist phones that are smaller than conventional feature phones. Right now, one startup, called Zanco, is in the limelight for probably making the world’s smallest phone.
The Zanco Tiny T1 is a feature phone that’s roughly the size of a thumb drive. The T1 has a fully functional keyboard and a 0.49-inch OLED display, despite having dimensions of 46.7x21x12mm and weighing 13 grams. Powered by a MediaTek MTK6261D motherboard and accompanied by 32MB of RAM, the T1 can store up to 50 SMS and 50 call logs. The phone is fuelled by a 200mAh battery, which might let it last for a day. As for connectivity, it thrives on 2G network and uses Bluetooth for pairing up with wearables, apart from the micro USB port for charging.
The Tiny T1 isn’t up for sale yet as the manufacturer is yet to reach its crowdfunding goal of $33,480 (roughly Rs 21.45 lakh). However, the company will sell one of these, once available, for roughly Rs 2,200 a piece. This will then probably be suited for those who are in the mood to get away from their social life for a few days. Will you get one of these as a secondary device?
