In the midst of the renowned brands busy launching new flagships for this year, HTC has taken off the wraps of its U12+ flagship. Starting at $799, the U12+ will be the successor to last year’s U11 and will offer flagship-class specifications as well as performance.

The U12+ is basically all the best goodies from HTC’s shelf that you can expect at the moment. For starters, there’s an 18:9 quad HD+ Super LCD 6 display measuring 6-inches with narrow bezels all around. The display supports HDR10 as well as sRGB along with DCI-P3 colour gamut. And carrying on with the trend, it’s protected by a Gorilla Glass 5.

The U12+’s build consists of a glass-metal combo like last year’s U11. The body is IP68 water and dust resistant. It’s built around Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset accompanied by 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage. The storage can be expanded up to 2TB. HTC’s Sense UI atop Android 8.0 Oreo is doing duty here. The U12+ will be offering Face Unlock for authentication, although the fingerprints sensor still remains.

When it comes to photography, the U12+ boasts of its 12MP HTC UltraPixel 4 OIS assisted rear camera with 1.4μm pixel size and an aperture of f/1.75, aided by PDAF as well as Laser autofocus. The secondary 16MP telephoto lens has an aperture of f/2.6 aperture. The camera shoots 4K at 60 fps as well as 240fps slow motion at 1080p. The front 8MP + 8MP dual front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture also aids real-time bokeh effects and AR stickers.

The U12+ is kept alive by a 3500mAh battery. It will feature certain HTC classic features such as USB-C audio, HTC USonic with Active Noise Cancellation and HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi edition.
