2020 iPhone 12 to come with unmatched technology that will leave Android scrambling

Android smartphones of the gaming variety have become a commonplace these days and even though some of the features are a bit excessive, they enhance the gameplay capabilities giving users a flawless experience. One such feature is the 120Hz refresh rates and most recently it has been debuted on the ASUS ROG Phone II, a gaming beast of a handset. While Apple doesn’t yet have this technology on its iPhones; it does use it on the iPad Pro which comes with the 120Hz ProMotion display.

Now, it appears that Apple is not holding back any punches with its 2020 iPhone 12 and a Samsung insider has claimed that it will feature a 120Hz screen and it will come with an amazing feature that will have Android manufacturers scrambling to catch up.

In 2017, Apple made the switch from LCD to OLED with the iPhone X, XS and XS Max all coming with 60Hz displays. However, they still did t support 120Hz touch sample rate. This feature shouldn’t be confused with the 120Hz used on the ROG Phone II as it comes with a 240Hz touch sample rate. It is worth mentioning that the display used on the iPad Pro is of the LCD variety with 120Hz.

However, from time-to-time, he does drop a hint or two about what’s going to appear on Apple products. In typical fashion, he took to Twitter to tease a feature of Apple’s upcoming 2020 iPhone 12 and Apple has been in talks with Samsung and LG about adding higher refresh rates.

@IceUniverse states, “Apple is considering a switchable 60Hz/120Hz refresh rate screen on the iPhone in 2020, and is discussing with Samsung and LG.”

As per the teaser, Apple will be adding switchable 60HZ/120Hz refresh rates which essentially mean that Apple is looking to bring its ProMotion technology to iPhones. Apart from a seamless performance, having switchable refresh rates could also help with power efficiency.

As per a report by BGR, “Higher refresh rates coupled with higher-touch sample rates should further improve the performance and responsiveness of a display, both when it comes to consuming content including videos and games, but also during regular smartphone use. It’s only logical to assume that all handset makers out there are looking to offer better displays to their buyers.”
