Galaxy S8 Active peeks at the world before unveiling
A few day ago, we discussed the Samsung Galaxy S8 getting a rugged version for those who take dropping a phone to be a normal part of their life. Now, Android Police has got hold of certain pictures that claim to be the Galaxy S8 Active. Guessing it to be true, we have to say that the ‘Active’ moniker hasn’t taken away much the normal ‘S8’ elements from the actual phone.
According to the leaked photos, the Galaxy S8 ditches most of its fancy glass cladding in favour of an unknown rugged material. There’s some kind of bumper protection to the edges and the rear panel hasn’t retained the Gorilla Glass 5 panel. Also, the Infinity Display loses out its curved edges in favour of a slim bezel display, much like the LG G6’s display. It also appears to be using the same software as the S8.
The S8 Active is thicker than the normal S8, which is accepted given the fact that it has to be ready to withstand drops. The Active also carries forward the 4000mAh battery from the S7 Active. There’s a Bixby button to the side like the original S8 but no trace of an Active reprogrammable button. The fingerprint sensor accompanies the camera sensor lifted off from the S8.
This brings out the possibility of the S8 Active being running on the Snapdragon 835 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It will also retain the S8’s brilliant camera and the waterproofing properties for sure.
