If you are smartphone manufacturer, you have to remember one important mantra — make your product different. That’s why Samsung invests millions of dollars in making curved displays on their flagships and HTC spends a lot of effort in making its smartphone squeezable. Russian smartphone maker Yota has been swearing by this formula since 2012 and their latest offering — the YotaPhone 3, is a shining example of that.

The YotaPhone 3 is essentially an old wine in a new bottle. In its classic candy-bar smartphone form factor, the phone has a 5.5-inch full-HD primary display and a 5.2-inch e-ink secondary display at the back. What’s new here is dedicated capacitive touch buttons for the e-ink display, which is unseen in a smartphone.

Underneath that display-heavy body, the YotaPhone 3 utilises a Snapdragon 625 chipset which is accompanied by 4GB RAM and a choice of 64GB or 128GB onboard storage. There’s a 13MP camera at the back and a 12MP selfie shooter up front. The smartphone is powered by 3300mAh battery and runs on YotaOS 3.0, which is built on top of Android Nougat 7.1.

The YotaPhone 3 is currently available in Russia from a starting price of Rs 23,000. However, there’s no news of this one coming to the Indian shores anytime soon.
