Do you remember the lovely Galaxy Note 7? Despite having serious battery explosion issues, die-hard Samsung fans and Note 7 owners were extremely sad to let it go. In fact people loved the phone so much that Samsung had release a series of software updates to render the Note 7 models in the wild useless. Well, it seems that Samsung wants to reward its loyal fans with their most beloved device. The Galaxy Note 7 is coming back.
When I say back, I don’t mean a newer hardware with the old moniker. The original 2016 pre-explosion era Galaxy Note 7 will be sold by Samsung as refurbished units. Don’t worry about the battery though; the original battery will be replaced by a smaller (and possibly safer) 3,200mAh battery. The device that received the WiFi certification has been known as SM-N935S on the certification reports, as stated by Galaxy Club. The original 2016 model has also received the WiFi certification, indicating that there could be two variants of the Note 7 selling in the markets.
As per our speculations, the Galaxy Note 7 could be sold in two variants depending on the condition of the device, i.e recalled Note 7 units could be sold with the new battery at a much cheaper price tag and the unsold Note 7 units could be selling at a higher rate than the recalled ones. We hope that the price for the refurbished models should be lower than $850. Oh, it is confirmed that at least South Korea and Vietnam will be getting the refurbished units for sure. As for India, Samsung hasn’t hinted on selling the revamped Note 7 anytime soon.
So, apart from the hardware, is there any new addition to the refurbished Note 7? Well, it’s 2017 and all flagships have moved to latest Android version. The Note 7 will be running Android Nougat out of the box. There’s no hint on the Note 7 getting Bixby from this year’s Galaxy S8 as of now.
